Rotary DTLA - Club Website Redesign Workshop

Join us for our next meeting on Thursday, February 1, where our speaker will be Cherise Charleswell, Development and Outreach Manager at Journey Out (http://journeyout.org/), who will speak about the epidemic of transnational and domestic human trafficking in California. Operating since 1980, Journey Out is a non-governmental and nonprofit health and human services agency whose mission is to help victims of commercial sexual exploitation and sex trafficking leave a life of abuse and violence, overcome their fears, and empower them to reach their full potential and achieve their goals.

Cherise joined Journey Out in September 2016 and has a multidisciplinary education, having undergraduate degrees in the Biological Sciences and Anthropology, as well as a Master’s in Public Health. She is the Immediate Past President of the Southern California Public Health Association (SCPHA), the Co-Chair of the Programs Committee of the American Public Health Association’s (APHA) Women’s Caucus, and has held various leadership position within APHA. Her research, work, and advocacy has traditionally focused on health inequity, women, racial/ethnic minorities; and how social determinants of health in the built environment impacts their health outcomes, quality of life, and life expectancy.
